You're Not Overworked-- You're Incompetent

The recent trend of Hysterical Slagging on Government Workers appears to have reached the cloistered, rareified heights of the American Intelligence Community. According to Leonard Arthur Young, a poster on the NSA's History Rocks! blog:

Hmm.... I wonder if that would be considered in the same way today. Sure you could take it as meaning that the person is so dedicated to the org and the mission that they don't want to take time off but these days there is so much discussion about managing the work/life balance and family battle rhythms, etc .. if you have a large balance today would it reflect poor time management since you can't do your job in time to allow you to take leave and that you aren't managing your work/ life balance properly?
For all national- security related staffers, military members, and others who believe that their government work is qualitatively different than that of DMV employees and they are thus immune to anti-government demagoguery, this demonstrates to everyone that no matter how important your work to the prosperity and safety of America, no matter how much less they make than their private sector counterparts, and no matter how much your agency's leadership whines about a lack of resources including personnel with which you could share the work burden, anti-government types will slag on your work and demonize you as the devil.

This attitude might why the CIA outranked the NSA on the Most Desired Employers for Young Professionals survey.
