Intelligence Community Run Amok: Joe Biden Claims Knowledge of Dozens of Cover-ups

In 1978, current vice president Joe Biden accused the American Intelligence Community engaging in dozens of cover-ups involving crimes such as espionage and murder to protect national security. His allegations were reported on page 8 of the next's day New York Times and, with the exception of a reference in James Bamford's The Puzzle Palace, promptly forgotten despite Biden's multiple presidential and and vice-presidential campaigns.

In addition to the political hay that could have been against him, the continued silence over this allegations is puzzling in light of the counterintelligence view that one should never give up in pursuing spies and lack of statu[t]e of limitation on murder and espionage.

(I correction a typo in this post brought to my attention by a commenter.)

  1. A statute of limitations is an enactment in a common law legal system that sets forth the maximum time after an event that legal proceedings based on that event may be initiated.

Please note, it is NOT a "statue".

  2. I wonder if the "Champ" would be willing to re-open any of the closed cases?

I doubt he even remembers these remarks and so I doubt he would reopen any of these cases.

What really struck me is how he's been able to run multiple presidential campaigns and win the vice presidency and not be called out on these remarks.

  5. The Patriot Act and other laws and regulations that entered into effect post-9/11 provide added protection for sensitive information and their sources so that prosecution could go forward without public disclosure or with very limited disclosure to the court. So revisiting those past allegations should not be as problematic from a government standpoint as it was in the early 1980s.

  6. I agree anonymous #3 but unless someone in the MSM or even a semi-famous face from the fringe media is willing to call out Biden on this matter, these crimes will remain unpunished.
